MRPL has won the prestigious Srishti Good Green Governance Award in the Manufacturing Sector - Non Metallurgical category. The award was given on the Earth Day - April 22nd 2018, in a glittering ceremony organised by Srishti Publications at the India International Centre, New Delhi. SRISHTI GREEN CUBE AWARDS are Annual Awards for Good Green Governance practised by the company and going extra mile beyond the required statutory compliance.

 

This award recognises MRPL’s commitment towards the society by virtue of adopting energy-efficient practices, eco-friendly initiatives in reducing the greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants. MRPL’s green initiatives like Maximizing Recycle of Treated Refinery Effluent Water using treated Mangalore City sewage water, Usage of Electric Vehicles inside the Refinery, Harnessing Solar power through roof top installations, Extensive Green Belt development, increasing awareness of afforestation through public engagement programs like promoting usage of seed balls which demonstrated MRPL’s commitment beyond statutory compliance and helped MRPL in winning this coveted accolade among Indian companies.

Shri Sanjay Varma, Group General Manager (HSE & ISO) and Shri Srinivas R, Chief Manager (HSE) received the trophy from Shri Murlidhar C Bhandare (Ex- Governor, Orissa) at New Delhi.

MRPL wins BML Munjal award for Business Excellence through Learning and Development

MRPL won the prestigious BML Munjal Award for Business Excellence through Learning and Development. The 13th edition of this Award was given away on 19th April 2018 at a grand function in New Delhi by Former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee. MRPL won the Runner up trophy in the PSU - Manufacturing category. The award was received by Shri B H V Prasad, GGM (HR) on behalf of Team MRPL.

 

This HR award is unique as there is a stringent four stage due process to select the winners with eminent personalities of the Corporate India serving as the jurors. The Award recognises HR departments in Corporate that follow robust people processes that deliver a positive difference to business.

Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration in MRPL

127th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar was celebrated in MRPL on 14th April 2018. On the occasion, Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery, Shri Rajeev Kushwah, CVO, Senior Management Personnel and MSSEWA office bearers paid floral tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar in the Administration building in the morning.

 

A stage programme was organised in the evening in MRPL Employees Club. The programme began with lighting of lamp followed by floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar’s portrait by the dignitaries. Ms Latha Kumari from Laboratory sung the invocation. Shri B Ramesh Kumar, CGM – Security & Logistics delivered the welcome address and introduced the Chief Guest Shri Purushothama Dass, Retired Canara Bank Manager and State convener of All India confederations of SC/ST organisations, Karnataka unit.

Shri B Purushothama Dass spoke on the occasion and recalled the difficult life situations faced by Dr BR Ambedkar during his time. He narrated how he got chance to pursue his post-graduation in Columbia and how he excelled at the university. He said that 14th April has also been recognised by UNO recently as World Knowledge Day. He stressed a point that if one loves his country then he needs to take care of all his colleagues and neighbours. The patriotism towards the nation is worthwhile when you show your concern to your fellow citizens, he remarked. He appreciated MRPL for conducting the programme in a befitting manner and thanked for inviting him.

Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery narrated his own life story and encouraged to keep our doors open to the underprivileged. He shared his thoughts on how difficult it was for women and poor to get educated a few years ago. He thanked the Chief Guest for enlightening the pains of the underprivileged in simple words. He appealed everyone to take example from Dr Ambedkar’s life and endure to complete any difficult task.

Shri BHV Prasad, GGM-HR proposed the vote of thanks and thanked all responsible for successfully executing the event with a special mention of the mesmerising speech by the Chief Guest.

The Musical Evening followed the stage programme. ‘Sizzling Guys’, a dance troupe performed a skit on Dr Ambedkar, fun games and a series of dances. A Portrait of Dr Ambedkar was painted on the spot by the time the skit was over by Ms Shabari Ganiga, a speed painter of the coastal district. It was the enthusiastic audience present at the occasion for the entire programme that ensured the programme a complete success.

 

 

 

 

 

MRPL commissions largest solar project of 6.063 MWp in a refinery site in India

MRPL has successfully commissioned largest solar power project in a refinery site in the country. The solar power project with a total capacity of 6.063 MWp is spread across 34 roof-tops within the refinery premises comprising both RCC and sloping sheet steel roofs.

 

Built at a cost of Rs.27 Crores by M/s Tata Power Solar Systems Limited, these solar plants generate more than 24,000 units per day amounting to more than 8.8 million units per annum.

This is a part of MRPL’s commitment to sustainable development with a focus on reduction in carbon emissions and renewable energy generation.

Commissioning of these Solar Power Plants has set an abundant improvement to Annual savings as follows:

Metric ton of oil Equivalent (MTOE) savings = 2682
MBN Reduction = 0.1297
F&L Reduction = 0.0165 %
Reduction in CO2 Emissions = 7000 Tonnes
