The Board of Directors of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a subsidiary Company of ONGC and Schedule “A” Mini Ratna Company, approved its Un-audited Financial Results for the first quarter of Financial Year 2018-19.
MRPL distributes LED Bulbs to Neighbouring Villages

MRPL organised a programme to distribute LED Bulbs at D.K. Zilla Panchayat, Mangalore on 3rd August 2018. Smt. Meenakshi Shanthigodu, President, D.K.Zilla Panchayat, Smt Kasturi Panja, Vice President, D.K.Zilla Panchayat, Dr M R Ravi, CEO, D.K.Zilla Panchayat, Shri Sushil chandra, GGM(Corporate Strategy), Shri U V Aithal, CGM (HSE) and other dignitaries participated in the program.
As a part of its Enterprise Social Commitment, MRPL is distributing LED bulbs to its neighbouring villages namely Bala, Kalavar, Permude, Kuthethoor, Jokatte, Thokur, Soorinje, Delanthabettu, Chelairu and Madhya.
MRPL is distributing around 32,000 numbers of LED bulbs amounting to Rs. 43 Lakh to 6800 families residing in these ten villages. These bulbs consume less energy (14W) as compared to conventional tube lights or incandescent bulbs. Further, these LED bulbs are free from mercury making them environment friendly. These bulbs are being distributed by MRPL in association with respective Grama Panchayats to all the residences, anganwadis, Grama Panchayat office, schools, community halls, etc.
Shri UV Aithal, CGM (HSE) welcomed the gathering. Dr. M R Ravi, CEO - ZP, complimented MRPL, and said that MRPL’s CSR activities like construction of anganwadis, toilets, bio-gas plants, LED bulb distribution etc., are complementing other government welfare activities. Smt Meenakshi Shantigodu, President, D.K. - Z.P. appreciated the CSR activities undertaken by MRPL including building toilet blocks in various schools. Smt Kasturi Panja, Vice President, D.K. – Z.P. also appreciated MRPL’s initiatives.
Shri Sushilchandra, GGM -Corporate Strategy said that our country’s energy needs are increasing, however non-renewable energy sources are depleting. Hence there is a need to conserve energy by initiatives like usage of LED bulbs and solar energy, he said. MRPL has already installed roof top solar plants in its refinery premises and LED bulbs distribution is another step in that direction, he concluded. Shri MS Sudarshan, CGM-HSE (Ph-IV) briefed about MRPL’s ESR initiatives and the power efficient and environment friendly features of LED Bulbs. Ms Veena Shetty, Chief Manager – CSR proposed the vote of thanks and Mr.Shrisha M Karmaran, AsstMgr – CSR compered the programme.
Grama Panchayat Presidents, Vice Presidents, PDOs from various Panchayats also took part in the programme.
