SWACHHATA HI SEVA PROGRAMME - MID FORTNIGHT REPORT

Mass Pledge taking ceremony was held in MRPL Mangalore, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi offices on 15th September 2018. Swachhta Pledge in Kannada, Hindi and English languages was administered to the employees in all MRPL Offices. Beach Cleaning activity was also carried out on the same day in association with Coast Guard, Mangaloreat Panambur Beach. Students from the neighbouring schools, members of various organisations and general public participated in the programme.

 

A Shramadan programme was organised in association with Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, at Surathkal Railway Station on 16th September 2018. Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, MLA, Mangalore North constituency inaugurated the programme. Shri M. Venkatesh, MD, MRPL, Shri BHV Prasad, GGM (HR), MRPL and Sr. Officials of MRPL and Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. participated in the Shramadan Activity. Shri Gunashekar Shetty, Corporator, Mangalore City Corporation also took part in the Shramadan activity.

On 17th September 2018, toilet construction project at Shri Karinjeshwara Temple, Karinje, Bantwal was initiated. A Formal Letter of Intent was issued to the Managing Trustee of the Temple by Mr. Ramasubramanian G, Sr. Manager (CSR) with a request to start the construction activity.

Initiation of Toilet construction project at Anjuman Hr. Primary School, Mukka, Mangalore took place on 18th September 2018. A Formal Letter of Intent was issued to the Head Master of the School by Mr. Shrisha M. Karmaran, Asst. Manager (CSR) with a request to start the construction activity.

 

On 19th September 2018, initiation of Public Toilet Block construction project at Chelairu Rehabilitation Colony in Chellairu Village, Haleangadi, Mangalore took place. A Formal Letter of Intent was issued to Mr. Jayanand, President of Chellairu Grama Panchayath (GP) by Mr. Shrisha M. Karmaran, Asst. Manager (CSR) with a request to start the construction activity. Ms. Kasturi Panja, Vice President, DK Zilla Panchayath, Mr. Nithyananda, PDO, Chellairu GP, Ms. Rekha, Member, Chellairu GP and other dignitaries were present during the programme.

On 20th September 2018, a formal Letter of Intent was issued to the CEO, DK Zilla Panchayath by Ms. Veena T. Shetty, Chief Manager (CSR) with a request to start the activity of procurement and installation of Incinerators in Schools and Hostels in DK District. Ms. Manjula, Officer, Swachatha Kosh, DK Zilla Panchayath, Sr. Officers of Zilla Panchayath and Ms. Sujatha, Sr. Assistant (CSR), MRPL were present during the occasion.

As a part of Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyaan, Shramadan and Awareness programmes conducted in five MRPL Retail Outlets, namely Cargo Gate, Panambur, Kadri, Mandya & Maddur. MRPL Officers from CSR and Marketing Department were present during the Shramadan and awareness programmes.

 

On 23rd September 2018, Shramadan activity was organised at Bajpe along with Rotaract Club Bajpe. MRPL Employees, Rotaract Club members, members of Yuvavahini - Bajpe, CISF Personnel of Mangalore Air Port, members of Patanjali Yoga Samithi, Students from Pana PU College, Parishioners of Bajpe Church, students of various school / colleges, Bajpe Grama Panchayath members and General Public participated in the programme.

 

Hindi Day Celebrations

Hindi Day Celebrations were held in MRPL Employees Recreation Centre on 21.09.2018 in the evening. Dr B R Pal, Sr. Mgr – OL briefed the audience about the programmes held during the fortnight. He complimented employees for taking part in competitions in large numbers. Shri BHV Prasad, GGM-HR welcomed the gathering.

 

Shri M Venkatesh, our Managing Director, Shri Rajiv Kushwah, CVO, Shri M Vinayakumar, GGM I/C Refinery, TS & MO, Shri BHV Prasad, GGM HR along with other dignitaries formally inaugurated the programme with lighting of the lamp.

Shri Rajeev Kushwah, CVO spoke on the occasion and said that we should always make efforts to converse in Hindi and use as much Hindi as possible in our official communication. Hindi as a uniting language holds different states and languages together, he remarked.

Shri M Venkatesh, our Managing Director explained how the limited knowledge of Hindi helped him when he was posted to Assam in the year 1989- 90. He also recollected his own mother who studied Hindi as a main language 60 years ago in Mysore, at a time when ladies were not preferring Hindi in this part of our country. He remembered her words when she encouraged him to study Hindi as it is our ‘Raj bhasha’.

A Cultural programme followed the stage programme. A renowned comedy team of Jimmy Moses (B/o Johny Lever) and a dance troupe performed and entertained the audience. The employees and their family members in large numbers participated in the programme

 

 

 

 

MRPL inks MoU with IIM-K LIVE for the Start-ups

MRPL has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIM-K LIVE (Laboratory for Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship, the Business Incubator) and Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K) on 14th September 2018 to support innovative start-up ventures.

 

Both MRPL and IIM-K feel that the partnership would leverage individual strengths of these public
sector organisations to contribute to entrepreneurial ecosystem in line with Start-up Mission of the Centre.

The MRPL has launched MRPL Startup fund and in collaboration with IIM-K LIVE, to nurture and fund new business ideas while the IIM-K LIVE, set-up by IIM-Kozhikode in association with Department of Science and Technology, already runs business incubation programme and would provide physical, intellectual and networking infrastructure to support start-up companies eligible for the MRPL grants.

Shri M Vinayakumar, GGM I/c Refinery, TS & MO and Shri V Nandakumar, CGM –Petrochem and R&D finalised and signed MoU on behalf of MRPL. After signing the MoU, Director, IIM-K welcomed MRPL to join the institute’s efforts in building entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems.

In collaboration with IIM-K and IIM-K LIVE, MRPL intends to promote new business ideas relevant to MRPL’s start-up policy to create an entrepreneurial mindset and fresh thinking among employees, stakeholders and public for revitalising corporate culture. Start-ups with innovative, high social impact solutions would be preferred for the start-up fund. Steering committee with representatives from IIM-K, IIM-K LIVE and MRPL would be involved in the selection, monitoring and review of the funded start-ups.

Under the proposed initiative, to begin with, start-ups which are incubated or would be incubated at IIM-K LIVE would be considered for seed grants in the form of soft loan convertible into equity capital.

With the MRPL start-up fund available, IIM-K LIVE is hopeful of getting high potential, innovative start-ups to get added to its start-up portfolio.

 

MRPL Donates Aids and Appliances to Differently Abled Persons

DK District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department, Women and Child Development Department, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) together with MRPL jointly organised a Programme for Distribution of Aids and Appliances for Differently Abled Persons and Equipment to Child Care Institutionsat Town Hall, Mangalore on 18.9.2018.

 

Shri Shivananda S Patil, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, GoK and Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP – DK district participated in the programme and handed over the Aids and Appliances to the beneficiaries. Dr Bharath Shetty, MLA Mangalore North, Shri Sasikanth Senthil, DC DK District, Shri S Bandyopadhyay, GGM Finance, Shri BHV Prasad, GGM HR, Zilla Panchayat President & CEO and officials from District Health, Child and Women Development Department participated in the programme.

It was a CSR initiative of MRPL under which Aids and Equipment worth Rs 1.85 Crore were distributed. Out of this amount, Aids and Appliances worth Rs 1 crore was distributed to Differently abled children under the District Health Department and Equipment worth Rs 85 Lakh were distributed for the Hostels of women and children under Women and Child Development Department. A total of 1,093 aids including petrol driven two wheelers, Braille kit, Hearing Aids, Hand operated Tricycles, Artificial Limbs, Callipers, Wheel Chairs etc were distributed to the beneficiaries.

The Minister complimented MRPL for contributing towards the aids and equipment for the needy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MRPL bags “Fieldcomm Group 2018 Plant of the Year” Global Award

MRPL excels on its laurels once again.

MRPL has bagged the prestigious “FieldComm Group 2018 Plant of the Year” Global award conferred by FieldComm Group. MRPL is the first Indian company to receive this International award.

The “FieldComm Group 2018 Plant of the Year” is an international award presented annually to an end user company for exceptional and innovative use of “Digital Technology” in real-time application for improved process operation, reducing cost, increasing availability of Plant and asset productivity by application of FOUNDATION Fieldbus, HART and wireless HART Communication technologies.

President & CEO of the Fieldcomm group Mr. Ted Masters presented this award to MRPL at Automation Expo-2018 held at Mumbai. On behalf of MRPL and his team Shri. B. Sudarshan, Chief General Manager (Inst. & Elect.) accepted this prestigious award. Speaking on this occasion Shri. B. Sudarshan expressed his immense pleasure for being the first Indian company among major global companies to receive this award. He also thanked MRPL Management for the encouragement and support for adoption of latest technology and complimented his team members for their remarkable efforts in implementation and effective utilisation of this digital technology.

Sri Suryanarayana (Ch. Manger – Projects) was present while receiving the award. Mr. Allen John and Mr. V M Karanth presented a paper on “Plant Digitisation – End users perspective” on this occasion.
