On 24th September 2018, as a part of Swachhta Hi Seva programme, a Door – to – door awareness campaign was organised at Surathkal and surrounding residential areas. Swachhta Pamphlets were distributed to Shops, Banks, commercial establishments in the Market and to the residences in the area. This campaign was led by CSR Team of MRPL in association with the NSS wing of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal. Ms. Prathibha Kulai, Corporator, Mangalore City Corporation, Mr. Rajmohan Rao, Convener of Nagarika Salaha Samithi, Surathkal, Prof. Krishnamoorthy, Vice Principal of Govinda Dasa College, Mrs. Sudha Shetty, NSS Officer of Govinda Dasa College were present during the programme.
On 25th September 2018, as a part of Swachhata Hi Seva programme, an Awareness Campaign for better sanitation practices like using toilet, hand wash, health & hygiene awareness for secondary work force was conducted in MRPL Employees Recreation Centre. Ms. Manjula, Senior Officer from Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Swachhta Kosh participated as Resource Person for the programme. Swachhata Kits were distributed to the contract employees who participated in the programme.
A Swachhta Magic Programme by renowned Magician Mr. Kudroli Ganesh was conducted in the evening at Karnataka Seva Vrinda Open Auditorium, Surathkal Junction. Mr. M. Sureshchandra Shetty, President of Karnataka Seva Vrinda, Mr. Rajmohan Rao, Convener of Nagarika Salaha Samithi, Surathkal and Mr. Manjunath, Traffic Inspector, Surathkal and Mr. BHV Prasad, GGM (HR), MRPL participated in the stage programme. The programme was well received by the audience who were more than 500 in number.
On 26th September 2018, Swachhata Awareness programme was held in three Government Schools in our immediate neighbourhood, Namely, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Hr. Primary School, Madhya, DKZP Hr Pri School, Chellairu and DKZP Hr Pri School, Mangalapete. Mr. Kiran from Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Swachhta Kosh participated as Resource Person for the awareness programme. During the programme, Swachhta kits were distributed to the students and Saplings were planted in the School premises.
On 27th September 2018, Swachhta Skit Competition was conducted in Aided Pejavar High School, Kalavar. Students participated enthusiastically in the skit competition. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition. Swachhta kits were also distributed to the students during the occasion.

Initiation of New Swachhta projects - Construction of Toilets at Tourist Place Shri Krishna Temple, Udupi was undertaken during the fortnight. On 29th September 2018 initiation of Toilet construction project at Shri Krishna Mutt, Udupi took place. A Formal Letter of Intent was issued to the Paryaya Swamiji of Udupi Shri Krishna Mutt by Shri Harish Baliga, Chief General Manager (CSR), with a request to start the construction activity.
As a part of Swachhta Hi Seva programme, on 30th September 2018, jute bags with a message ‘not to use plastic bags’ were distributed to the residences in MRPL Township to reduce usage of plastic bags as a part of Swachhta Hi Seva programme.
As a part of Swachhta Hi Seva programme, an Awareness programme on menstrual and personal hygiene was conducted in Govt. PU College for Women at Balmatta, Mangalore. Shri Vedavyasa Kamath, MLA, Mangalore South Constituency, participated in the programme as Chief Guest. Dr. Poornima Jayadev was the Resource Person. She spoke and interacted with the students on the subject. Ms. Manjula from Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Swachhta Kosh, Ms. Mariett Mascarenhas, Principal of Govt. PU College for Women, Balmatta, Mangalore were present during the programme.
On 2nd October 2018, a Walkathon was conducted from Hosabettu to Chitrapura (both surrounding places of Surathkal) along the Sea shore road, as a concluding programme of Swachhta Hi Seva campaign. More than 800 swachhta volunteers participated in the walkathon from more than 35 different Organisations.
