International Women’s Day Celebration, 2019 International Women’s Day 2019 was observed in MRPL Employees Recreation Centre on 8th March 2019.

 

The programme attended by Senior members of Management, Heads of other collectives in MRPL, Team HR and our beautiful WIPs members from Mangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru (out station through VC).

After the MRPL corporate song, Ms Aparna M Nayak, Ms Smitha P and Ms Yashaswini invoked the Gods with a melodious prayer.

Ms Meenakshi G, Asst. Mgr – HR welcomed the gathering.

Ms. Jyothi H, Manager – QC and R&D presented an overview of the WIPS activities for the year 2018.

Shri B H V Prasad, GGM (HR) spoke on the occasion about the women operators of MRPL who run the CHTU Plant and how they have brought laurels to MRPL. He lauded the achievements of MRPL’s Lata Kumari, Lakshmi in PSPB & Alphy poster presentation in the CHT RTM and also highlighted the women-centric activities in MRPL including the MRPL block added to Lady Goschen Hospital.

Shri Rajeev Kushwah, CVO spoke on the occasion and appealed to women members to make a difference in the life of at least 5 women around them. He too applauded the individual efforts of employees in PSPB and other events and advised them to excel as a team too, at the industry or national level.

Prizes were distributed to the winners in different competitions conducted during 2018-19, with Ms Pavitra Kotian wielding the mike. The achievers of various PSPB and other sports tournaments were also honoured.

Shri M Venkatesh, Managing Director quoted the example of his own grandmother and said that a woman’s heart can touch the deepest part of a human mind and change the world. He remembered the women in uniform who protect the Nation and also the lady officers in CISF who guard MRPL.

A turquoise blue cake that resonated with the blue that almost all ladies wore on the occasion became the centre-stage next. The dignitaries and the participants joined in cutting the IWD cake.

Ms Lekshmi M. Kumaran, CGM – HR introduced Ms Renuka Nair, GM -Aviation, Indian Oil who was the Guest of Honour and invitee. In her in pen picture introduction of Ms Nair, Ms Lekshmi M Kumaran spoke about her photography trails and travels and recalled how she was introduced to “Renu” the lady achiever, role model, who refueled an Air Force aircraft in an emergency situation, all on her own as an A grade officer.

Ms Renuka Nair, then took an informative session on ‘Photography using Cellphone’ that was appreciated by all.

The Women’s day celebration ended on a high note with laughter and revelry. Ms Alphy and Ms Pooja conducted different competitions and group activities and gave away prizes. It was made extra special by the enthusiastic participation from our WIPS team in Delhi who joined through VC.

As the day concluded the members left bearing the messages from the dignitaries echoing in their mind and also pondering on ‘Think equal, build smart and innovate for change’, the theme of the IWD 2019.
