MRPL Oil Jetties are located inside the NMPT (New Mangalore Port Trust). There are 6 lines running from Refinery to coastal terminal out of which four are White Oil lines and 2 are Black Oil lines. Out of 2 Black Oil lines one is a Crude receipt line of 36 diameter and other one is used for Furnace oil/ LSHS service. From coastal terminal hook up is taken for supplying products to IOCL and BPCL. There are 5 Oil Jetties inside the NMPT. J-10 and J-11 are with MRPL, J-9 is with IOCL and J-12 is a multi-user Jetty. As of now we have not berthed our vessels at multi-user Jetty but hook is also available for that Jetty. We can berth Crude vessel only at J-10 and 11. At virtual Jetty we can load MS, HSD and FO. In each Jetty we have six marine loading arms at J-10/11 out of which 4 are for Black Oils and two are for White Oils. Out of 4 Black Oil-loading arms all four can be used for Crude unloading but only 2 loading arms can be used for FO/LSHS loading.Minimum suitability criteria for a vessel to berth in Jetty 9,10,11 and Virtual Jetty are as follows

BERTH DETAILS OF OIL JETTY AT NMPT
BERTH NO PERMITTED DRAFT (M) LOA (Max) Parallal body length  Apex Angle (in M) DISPLACEMENT

B-09 10.5 235 30-30 12.5 2.5 45000M.T
B-10 14.1 285 40-40 23.2 5.6 120,000.M.T

Products are loaded using hoses at virtual jetty and jetty-9. Marine loading arms at jetty 10/11 are hydraulically operated and interlock facility for tripping the loading pumps and disconnecting the loading arms is also available. Maximum loading/unloading rate through each loading arm is 2200kl/hr.

With a view to reduce transportation cost of evacuation, a cross country pipeline between Mangalore and Bangalore became a necessity.Accordingly Petronet MHB Limited was formed to implement the project and operate this Cross-Country pipeline.ONGC holds a 23% equity holding in this pipeline.

ONGC-MRPL in PETRONET MHB LIMITED

In view of the enhanced capacity of MRPL Refinery from 3MMTPA to 9MMTPA, a pipeline between Mangalore and Bangalore became a necessity, as it is difficult to evacuate the entire capacity through other modes of transportation like road, rail etc. Accordingly Petronet MHB Limited was formed to implement the project and operate this cross-country pipeline.
